Financial prudence

is the best kind. I am a staunch opponent to all other forms of it. But, in this aspect, reservation can be useful. Case in point: I've started a checking/debit account with which to store my money. I believe this will curb wasteful spending and give me a concrete number as to where I stand in the world. I have joined the system. But, in order to survive the forest, you have to grow fur, as it were. Or feathers....at least. I'm trying to make some sort of point here. Maybe I'm cold. Oh, speaking of points that can be illustrated with obscure references, I read a story about this guy who wanted to curb his soda drinking habits. So, he put all of his soda in his seldom used basement fridge. Thus, when thirst struck him, he would find himself too lazy to traipse all the way to the basement and drink the much more convenient (and much healthier) water in his kitchen fridge. I believe this same principle applies to me: I'm not going to waste my money on frivolous things if I must traipse all the way to my "basement fridge" of a bank account to withdraw money. At least it makes sense to me. I've been attempting to explain this to the rest of my family who, to put it politely, hasn't made the best financial choices. But, sadly it falls upon deaf ears. Or at least that maintain qualities of deafness. Perhaps hard of hearing ears. But, I digress. Money is an evil that I have contained. And will attempt to further this confinement by putting as much of the evil in the basement fridge as possible.

Sixty Dollars

is the duration of time for money that I worked today. $60 is 7.5 hours. Seven and a half hours of caulking, sweeping, sponging, vacuuming, cleaning and more caulking. It wasn't fun. It didn't go by quickly. But, I did make a lot of money, so I suppose I can live with it. I need to get a bank account. I need to do a lot of things... Like bring my mp3 player (even though it's broken) next time. It was very, very boring. Plus, the guy that I was working with kept making "caulk" jokes. Actually, he was the only interesting, whimsical aspect of today's work. My boss was complaining about her boss the whole time. Which, made me very uncomfortable. She even screamed at one point. How do you respond to that? The most I could do was try not to look like I wanted to go home, and try to sympathize. I hope tomorrow isn't going to be that awkward and boring.

Dia de los Padres

Today was quite pleasant. It was a diversion from most of my little problems, and a day to spend time with my dad. Which I don't usually have time to do. I was in the middle of cleaning my room when my sister calls me to say that they are on their way to pick me up. So, I throw some clothes on and we all go out to Woodstock's pizza. Luckily, I had the opportunity to buy him a nice pair of shades and a card. They looked quite nice on him. Haha. After the pizza, we waltzed around San Luis and ate Bali's yogurt. Quite a peaceful outing for Father's Day.

My Dilemma is this:

I need a car. And the whole trip from arkansas with Brandon and Christy was supposed to make it all better. However, it was too late to schedule that little endeavour so last minute. And, I also need a license. But for that i need a car. But, wait! it gets better. Theres this person named Sam. Who magnanimously offered to give me a ride to arkansas. The only problem is he is leaving during next week. Which means, no san francisco pride and i'd be out of work for about a week. Even though I don't really have a ride to San Francisco. But, I REALLY REALLY want to go! I suppose I could wait for my aunt to bring me the car in July...

The Pros of going to Arkansas:
I get a car
I get to hang out with a cool guy
I get to see my friends however briefly

The Cons of going to Arkansas
I don't get to go to Pride
I won't be able to make as much money
I have to get my license now

The Pros of staying here
I don't have to pay all of the gas money to come back
I get to make money at work
I get to go to Pride (maybe)

The cons of staying here
I won't get a car until much later
I won't get to see my friends (but, I probably wouldn't have anyways)
I might not even go to Pride...

I suppose i'll have to talk to my boss, Sam, my mom, my aunt, and anybody who is hopefull willing to give me a ride to San Francisco.

Decisions, Decisions....

How amazing

is being a high school graduate, you ask? It's rather wonderful. I vote yes on it. And in this democratic day and age, I believe that high school graduate status is the platform for the future! Mwahahahah!!! But, seriously, it's pretty cool to realize that I never have to go to that horrible place ever again. Ever. I have my diploma, I have my college life ahead of me (hopefully), Life is good. Now all I must do is enjoy my last summer at home. And somehow figure out where I'm going to live and how cost effective it must be. Speaking of cost effective, I'm going to arkansas. Randomly, I have decided that in order to get the car that my aunt has said that she would give me, I will road trip back to california after flying there. In a week. I should have planned this earlier. But, the seat of my pants is what I fly by! And that's just how I roll. It will be fun. Me, Brandon and Christy being our cohesively amazing selves.

Not that great

I've realized that senior activities and the senior class in general are....mediocre at best. Today was the pool party which was less than enthralling. At least there was free food. There seems to be a running trend in my posts as of late. But, tonight is Senior Showcase and I'll be playing Arban's 1 or 11, I forget. I'll have to remember to warm up this time. In other news, my sister gave me her yearbook which was very nice of her. They are way too expensive but, nice to have I suppose. I'm only letting people I actually care about sign it. Ah, the memories.

Food: It tastes better when it's free

It's totally true. Today, i was nourished solely on the provisions of others. And it was AWESOME. Senior "breakfast" was blintzes (sp?) from the Metchik house. Amazing little squares of cheese, egg goodness with jelly and sour cream. I ate far too many. And then cheesecake. After this artery clogging culinary spectacle, I also went to the Urinetown Cast party despite the dubious fact that I am not really a part of the cast. It was okay. Mainly because of the bread. T'was delicious despite the fact that I wasn't and am still not all that hungry. Andy's house is (as expected) large and expensive looking. Aside from the Santa Maria Barbecued ribs, I'm fairly sure all the food was lovely. Vegetarianism doesn't go over too well in Santa. Ahhhhh.... I'm partially satisfied. There are just a few odds and ends that drastically need tying up. In other news, I graduate in 5 effing days and I can't wait. Despite the fact that college is looking like about a 70% surety, I'd say, I still cannot wait for summer to be here. I'll be working, hanging out, practicing.... Yes. All very necessary things.
*completely unrelated*
I was driving home with Juliana and she was explaining a drama exercise that she had done with PCPA at a summer camp. She said that the purpose of the exercise was to "walk with purpose". The teachers instructed people to imagine their favorite places and walk with that image in one's head. I paused to think about this: I don't have a favorite place.
Interesting. I have lost this piece of mental real estate before it even came into existence. A few possibilities popped up such as: Downtown SLO, on stage, or Biddle park but, No. None of these are right. I think my favorite place to be is: asleep. which isn't really a place but, more of a state of being. And we come full circle; there is no place like home, there is no place like home.
